Hello! Thank you for visiting. I’m Dr Nigel Fletcher, a political historian, lecturer and writer. I currently teach politics and contemporary history at King’s College London, and am also an experienced political practitioner.

I have a wide interest in the study of politics and contemporary British history, with published books, articles in UK national newspapers and appearances on broadcast news and current affairs programmes. I have a particular specialism in the study of political opposition, and am the co-founder of the Centre for Opposition Studies.

In my career I have worked for senior politicians, been a policy adviser, and have served in elected office myself. This experience helps me to bring a degree of practical knowledge to my work as a researcher and writer.

On this site you can find details of my experience and links to some of my writing and other work.
